The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) requires
end-users to carry out risk assessments, provide work equipment that is suitable for
its intended task and can be used without putting persons at risk. We can provide PUWER inspections with reports.
EN ISO 12100 is an standard that outlines the general principles for the design of safe machinery, focusing on risk assessment and risk reduction. We can provide assessments and reports with a structured methodology, to help designers or end-users identify hazards, estimate & evaluate risks, and implement measures to reduce those risks.
In conjunction with the risk assessment, we can provide additional support to develop a safety solution report. Working closely with you, we can provide detailed guidance
and proposed solutions to achieve
compliance with the applicable legislation and standards.
Failure to UKCA / CE mark equipment correctly can result in serious consequences, such as risk of injury and breach of law. We can provide the support required to successfully cover your machinery design and build. This includes conformity assessment procedures to the applicable Essential Health & Safety Requirements (EHSRs) and Technical file construction.
Failure to design and verify safety functions correctly can lead to failure of a control system. We can provide ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 Verification reports, utilising calculation tools such as IFA Sistema, Siemens and PAScal; structuring of the safety related control components based upon designated architectures, providing reliability values for the safety functions.
Validation testing is a crucial step in the machinery safety lifecycle, ensuring that the safety-related control systems are designed, implemented and function as intended. We can provide validation testing with functional checks and fault injections, to verify the behaviour under different conditions, including fault scenarios.
After risk assessment and prior to validation, the Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) must be developed, so that the requirements of each safety function are verified to ensure their consistency and completeness for the intended use. We can provide SRS reports in accordance with ISO 13849 and IEC 62061.
Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) are now common place in industrial environments. We can provide specialist assessments to ensure that the vehicle and system integration is safe and compliant to applicable standards such as ISO 3691-4. We can also provide support on the required UKCA / CE marking of the system at the end-user location.
Robots used in collaborative applications and that are designed to work alongside people are not inherently safe out of the box. Safety in cobot systems relies on correct design, risk assessments and implementation of safety measures according to applicable standards such as ISO/TS 15066. We can provide the assessment and support required for the safe implementation.
